HOLSEY WASSON OF PERRY DIES

Holsey Wasson, 89, retired Milwaukee Railroad engineer, died Friday at 7:30 PM at the Bishop Drumm Home in Des Moines, where he had been a resident for over two years.

Services for Mr. Wasson will be Tuesday at 9:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rosary will be Monday at 8 PM at the Fouch Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery.

Son of Joseph and Jeanette (Jackson) Wasson, he was born Sept. 16, 1873 near Peoria, Ill. He came to Perry in 1878. He was married to Margaret Frances Schinker at Perry Nov. 26, 1902.

Mr. Wasson was a railroad engineer for 52 years before retiring. He was engineer on the first Hiawatha from Savanna to Perry.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and The Daily Chief's Three-Quarter Century Club. He also belonged to the Sportsman's Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Booth of the Los Angeles, Calif. area and Mrs. Lucille Ling of Perry; five sons, David, Robert John and Howard Wasson, all of Los Angeles, and William Wasson of Perry; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Cornelia Mulholland of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Josephine Schraub of Pasadena, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Margaret, in 1957; a son, Maurice; three brothers, David, Fred, and Clarence; two sisters, Mrs. Nina McDowell and Mrs. Hebert Taylor, and a sister in infancy.

CONDUCT SERVICES HERE FOR HOLSEY WASSON, 89

Services were Tuesday at 9:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church for Holsey Wasson, 89, retired Milwaukee Railroad engineer, who died Friday evening at the Bishop Drumm Home in Des Moines.

The Rev. Charles Gaul officiated.

Rosary was Monday at 8:00 PM at the Fouch Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Tom Rellihan, Dale Taylor, Paul Morgan, Dr. J. H. Worrell, George Tomer and Lawrence Hanlon.

Burial was at Violet Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, five sons, two sisters, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
