OBITUARY

The deceased, Jeanette Eudora Jackson, was the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Taylor) Jackson, and was born in Toulon, Illinois, on October 31, 1851, where she grew to womanhood and was married in 1869 to Joseph H. Wasson at that place.

To this union was born nine children, two of whom have passed on. The husband preceded her in death just thirteen years ago today. The children who are present here today are Fred, Holsey, Clarence and Mrs. Edith Taylor all of this city, and Mrs. Nina McDowell of Lafayette, Indiana. Two daughters, Mrs. Cornelia Mulholland, of Denver, and Mrs. Joseph Schwab of Sacramento, California, are unable to be present. There are also thirteen grandchildren living. She is also survived by two brothers and five sisters, none of whom were able to be present. The deceased was united with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on October 25th, 1914, in which church she was faithful until the end.

The outstanding traits in the character of this good woman was her devoted motherhood, her cheerful disposition, her love of beautiful flowers and her wonderful qualities as a neighbor. She passed through many trials in her life, which would have overcome many, but because of that undaunted spirit which sustained her, she always kept her troubles to herself, and whatever her cares, she was always cheerful and looking on the bright side. As a neighbor, she never had an unkind word for anyone, and until her age enfeebled her, she was always the good Samaritan in spirit and truth, as the following beautiful tribute by one of her neighbors will testify:

In Remembrance Of Mrs. J. H. Wasson

A dear neighbor from us has gone,
Her voice is hushed in death;
We loved her, but God loved her best
And took her home to rest.

Peace be your sleep, dear neighbor,
Sweet it is to breathe your name;
While in life we loved you dearly
And in death, we do the same.

Just one week ago, dear neighbor,
While alone with aches and pains,
I can never forget the sunshine,
Which you brought to me each day.

We will miss your loving care, dear neighbor,
Your smiles no more we shall see;
But as long as life and memory last,
We shall think lovingly of thee.

CORRECTION: Jeanette Eudora Jackson and Joseph Henry Wasson were married October 28, 1871, in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois.
