Death of Marietta C. Brewer

Mrs. Marietta Brewer, a former resident of De Soto, died Saturday, February 8th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Florence Markham of Galesburg, Illinois. Mrs. Brewer was 71 years of age and hemorrhages caused her death.

The deceased was married to Mr. Brewer at Perry, February 1, 1875 and they lived for many years at De Soto. Following the death of Mr. Brewer, 8 years ago, Mrs. Brewer made her home with her children. Mr. and Mrs. Brewer were the parents of nine children, all of whom survive them: Florence Markham of Galesburg, Illinois; Lettie Kommer of Cambridge; Grace Brown of Valley Junction; Elrene Woolery of Des Moines; Alice Conn of Winterset; Ervin and Willard of Perry; Arthur of Los Angeles, California; and Ernest of Denver. She also leaves 22 grandchildren, one great grandchild and two sisters and two brothers. The sisters are: Mrs. Netty Wilcox of Perry and Mrs. Sue Fessler of Summers and the brothers surviving are: Calvin Carhill of Perry and James Carhill of Seattle, Washington.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brewer were held at Perry on Wednesday, February 12th at the Phillips funeral home. The pastor of the Perry Christian church had charge of the services and burial was made in the Glenwood cemetery at Perry.
