Obituary

Lizzie Mae De Bruyn, daughter of Isaac and Sarah Dunmire, was born in Knox County, Ohio, May 6, 1876, and passed away January 7, 1965 at Ames, Iowa at the age of 88.

As a young girl she moved with her parents to a farm near Kilduff, Iowa, in Jasper county. Here she was baptized into the Baptist church.

On December 11, 1895, she was united in marriage to Ira C. DeBruyn. They were the parents of three children: Clarence who passed away in May, 1963; Lloyd of Albin, Wyoming, and Ivor of Ames.

In 1896 she and her husband moved to a farm near Dexter, Iowa, and after ten years here they homesteaded near Pine Bluff, Wyoming, where they lived until 1933, when they moved back to the farm near Dexter. In 1952 they retired from farming and moved into Dexter.

Until her eyesight failed, she spent her leisure hours crocheting and reading. After 57 years of married life, her husband died in 1952. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, James, and two sisters: Vida and Naomi. She is survived by her two sons, Lloyd and Ivor, five grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; one brother, Harry Dunmire, of Earlham; also by many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Final services were held Monday, January 11, at the Dexter Methodist church with the Rev. John Latta officiating.
