September 23, 1882

On the farm of D. J. Pattee, near Perry, Dallas County, four years ago, while sowing wheat H. H. Davis lost a fine gold watch, which could not be found. The field remained uncultivated until this year, when it was planted with corn. A few days ago a boy while pulling cockle-burs, brought up the watch with the roots of a plant. The case was somewhat rusty, but the movement was uninjured, and it was said to be now running all right.
