ADKINS, EVARTS

AMANDA EVARTS (15 Sep 1818 - OH - 3 APR 1880 - Dallas Co, (Waukee Cem.)IA; MD 20 Feb 1834 in St. Joseph Co., IN to a NATHANIEL ADKINS) was my GGGrandmother. She and husband, NATHANIEL ADKINS, are buried in the Waukee Cem., Dallas Co., IA, nearby her eldest daughter Mary Ann Akins Hoff and her husband John H. Hoff. I am looking for the parents of AMANDA EVARTS. The presumably widowed mother's name (somewhat illigible) appears in the Mich Beriens 1850 Census in the Nathaniel Adkins' household as a Experience(?) Evarts, and she likely died there, as her name disappears from the Dallas Co., IA Census of 1860. The father's name is unknown. Amanda Evarts Adkins place of birth is shown in later census data as simply "OHIO". They appeared to follow the daughter, MARY ANN AKINS HOFF to Dallas Co. at an elderly age and were one of the early "homesteader" residents of the county.

I would like to learn more of the parentage and any relatives of MARY ANN AKINS and AMANDA EVARTS. Please contact me at or at (312) 346-8111 (Chicago) workdays, Very truly yours, JOHN SCOTT HOFF.
