Mrs. Ericka Mauritz was born Erika Hillman in Uppland, Sweden on 4 June 1868. She came to her relatives in America at the age of 14 years in 1882. She lived with the John Johnstons for some time and was employed in Odebolt and the community.
She was married to Swan Mauritz on 3 Sept 1888. They lived on the old homestead northwest of Kiron for one year and then moved to the present farm south west of town where she lived until she moved to Kiron 19 years ago. She lived alone until last summer when she went to be with her son, Elmer to be cared for by them. Mr. Maruitz died 16 Jan 1916 - 34 years ago, and a daughter, Grace, Mrs. Lambert Bergin, died 18 Jan 1941.
She leaves to mourn her going, one daughter, Mrs. Axel Skarin of Kiron; two sons, Elmer and Jubel, both of Kiron, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a woman of faith; trusting in her Saviour and waiting for His coming. She learned to lean upon God when her husband left her so early in life. She now rests from her labors with the Christ she loves.
