Mayme Carlson died February 9, 1981, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 28 days. She had been in failing health for several months.

Mayme Mathilda Carlson was born at Kiron February 11, 1901, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gustafson. She was married to Ernest Carlson on March 3, 1931, and to this union two children were born, a daughter LaVonne and a son Gerald. The family resided on a farm near Pomeroy until January, 1949, when they moved to a farm southwest of Albert City. Shortly after moving to this community, the Carlson family became members of the Covenant Church, and Mayme also enjoyed membership in the Mayview Club, where she was active for many years.

Following the death of her husband, Ernest, on February 3, 1965, Mayme moved to Albert City where she lived until six years ago. Since then, because of her health, she had lived at Buena Vista Manor in Storm Lake.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, and one brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. LaVonne Moline and husband Dwayne of Blue Springs, Mo; son Gerald Carlson and wife Elaine of Storm Lake; one sister Mrs. Florence Johnson of Pomeroy; two brothers, Vernal and Willard of Kiron; and six grandchildren.
