Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon 10 September 1952 at the Arthur Baptist church for Oliver Gradin with Rev. Gordon Hasselblad officiating, assisted by Rev. C. R. Osbeck. The hymn, "Face to Face" was sung by Reuben Lindskoog and "Near to the Heart of God" by Dennis Lindberg. Pall bearers were Chas. Anderson, Elmer Johnson, Arvid Gustavson, Arthur Lindberg, Earl Belsten and Joe Samuelson. Burial was made in the hayes Township cemetery.

The life runes of Oliver Gradin are soon told. He was born on the old Olaf and Christine Gradin homestead 28 Oct 1878 and with the exception of some years spent in farming at Hawarden, Iowa, and Gann Valley, SD, he lived all his life in this community. He was converted in the Sabina Johnson revival meetings in this community and became a member of the Arthur Baptist church in his early years, a fellowship broken only by his transfer to the church glorious, the event which took place Monday afternoon, 8 September 1952, after a long illness. At the time of his passing he had attained the age of 73 years, 10 months and 11 days. he leaves to mourn two brothers, Alfred of Ida Grove, and Abram of Cylon, Wisconsin; and three sisters, Mrs. Kate Peterson of Arthur in whose home he was tenderly cared for by his two sisters during the last months of his earthly pilgrimage; Josie, Mrs. C. R. Osbeck of Willmar, Minn. and Martha of Arthur, Iowa and many other relatives and hosts of friends who highly value his quiet friendly Christian personality and fellowship.
