Lloyd Julius Pautsch was born July 25, 1928, the son of rdinand and Elsie Jacobs Pautsch. He passed away Thursday, Supt. 13, 2012, at the Denison Health Care in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 84.
Lloyd was born on a farm near Charter Oak. He was baptized in Christ on Aug. 9, 1928, at St. John Lutheran Church, Charter Oak and later confirmed there on April 6, 1941.He received his education at St. John Lutheran School and graduated from the Charter Oak High School with the class of 1945. He entered the United States Navy on June 28, 1946, and received his honorable discharge on April 24, 1948. He often commented on what a great experience the Navy gave him.
On Dec. 26, 1950, Lloyd was united in marriage to Jennie Lee at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ute. The couple made their home on a farm near Ute until when they moved to Ft. Collins, Colo., where Lloyd worked as a carpenter. In 1961, they returned to Iowa to farm and work at IBP in Denison. Lloyd was promoted to plant superintendent at the new IBP plant in Amarillo, Texas in 1974. He retired from IBP for health reasons in 1976 and returned to Iowa where he continued farming.
Lloyd was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed working on the farm and making things from old parts found around the farm with his grandchildren. In his leisure time he enjoyed listening to music and was especially fond of Christmas music, watching television and movies with his grandchildren, especially westerns and comedy. He was quick witted and enjoyed a keen sense of humor that created a strong bond with his family and especially with his grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marian and Lavina. Survivors include his wife, Jennie, of 61 years; two sons: Bruce and his wife, Susan; Brian and his wife, Valeta; one daughter, Shelly and her husband, Dave; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Irene; and Orpha and her husband, Burdell; two brothers, Lester; and Russ and his wife, Mary; and two sisters-in-law Minnie; and Phyllis Lee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Monday, Supt. 17, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Rev. Richard Merrill officiated the service and graveside rites held at St. Clair Cemetery in Ute. Organist Art Beeck provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus, Rock of Ages, Cleft For Me, Nearer, My God, To Thee,and Abide With Me.
Honorary Pallbearers were Emily Pautsch, Travis Pautsch, Brad Pautsch, Beth Pautsch, Dylan Haase, Ben Pautsch, and Drew Haase. Serving as Pallbearers were Larry Wiebers, Brad Pautsch, Brent Jensen, Stan Ullerich, Myron Teut, David Johnson, and Kevin Boeck. Military Honors were provided by Ute American Legion Post 442 & V.F.W. Post 5605.
The family invited everyone to return to the church for fellowship and lunch provided by Staley's and the Ladies Aid. Sunday Services included a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak. The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements.
