PIONEER LADY CALLED
Charter Oak, Iowa, July 20
Mrs. Herman Quandt Died July 16th, at Age of 72 Years, 10 Months and 24 Days.
Mrs. Rosina Quandt, was born August 22, 1851 in Jackson county, Iowa. Here she was baptized, instructed in her youth, and when matured was confirmed in the evangelical Lutheran Missouri Synod church.
When she had reached the marriageable age she was wedded to Mr. Fred Mesenbrink. This happy matrimony was blessed with eight children. Three of them have preceded her in death. A number of years ago she lost her husband through death. She was then nearly fifty years old.
After a few years she again was married to Mr. Herman Quandt. With him she lead a happy life until 1920 when the second husband also died. Since then she has made her home in Charter Oak. She was a devout member of the Lutheran church here in Charter Oak, a very diligent communicant member. On July 16th she died and was interred at the Hanover township cemetery on July 19th, Rev. Amstein officiating.
The following children survive her: Henry, Emil, Wilhelm, Erich, Mrs. Bertha Quandt, and Mrs. Dorothea Blunk; and the stepchildren are: Max Quandt, Otto Quandt, Emil Quandt, Willie Quandt, Herman Quandt, Geo. Quandt, Mrs. John Henning and Mrs. Paul Schneider. One sister, Mrs. Henry Kunze of Worthington, Minn. also survives.
She brought her pilgrimage on this earth to 72 years, 10 months and 24 days.
