ANSWERS DEATH CALLS
M. Van Tuil Passes Away at Denison
on Sunday LastSunday morning at 2:30 at his home on Broadway, occurred the death of Marious Van Tuil, an old and respected citizen of Denison, and one of the old settlors of this county.
Mr. Marious Van Tuil was born Sept 30, 1831, at Echteld, Holland. He came to this country in 1865, settling in Cook County, Illinois. In 1875, he came to this county where he took up some of Crawford’s County’s land and farmed until about 12 years ago, whence he moved to Denison to enjoy the fruits of his labor. In 1872, Mr. Tuil was married to Miss Matilda Anderson who died the 2d. day of Sept. 1890. Their union was blessed with seven children of whom five survive their father: Mrs. Henry Schmedeke of Otter Creek Township, Mrs. Adolph Steuber of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Ernest Sibbert, Mrs. Ed Nelson and Miss Clara Van Tuil of Denison. Mr. Van Tuil, during his declining days had the tender care of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sibbert, and also Mrs. Steuber, who had come from California to be at the bedside of her father. Mr. Van Tuil had for years been suffering from rheumatism and this with other complications brought about his death. At the time of his death Mr. Van Tuil was 79 years, 5 months and 1 day old.
The funeral was held at 1o’clock on Tuesday afternoon at the Lutheran Church, Rev. Freese officiating and burial mad in the Lutheran cemetery. He has a brother and sister yet living in the old country.
