Funeral Services Held Thursday For Louis Riessen Funeral services were held Thursday in the Sinn Funeral home for Louis Riessen. Rev. F. A. Wiese was in charge of the service and read the following obituary:

Louis Riessen, son of Jurgen Riessen and Mina nee Witt, was born on March 17, 1880, in Iowa Township, Crawford County.

He was baptized in the Lutheran church November 10, 1880 and was confirmed April 7, 1865 at Grant township Lutheran Church.

He was married on July 7th at Charter Oak to Mathilda Reetz. To this union was born three children: Leodine Ida, and the twins, Marcella and Frank.

For a year after his marriage, Louis lived in the Kenwood, Iowa area before moving to the Schleswig community where he farmed until his retirement four years ago when he moved to Schleswig.

He was known as a hard-working, quiet man who was respected by his friends and neighbors. He died on Tuesday, August 14.

Surviving are: one daughter, Marcella, Mrs. Ommo Friedrichsen of Schleswig; three sisters: Maggie, Mrs. Gus Ericksen of Battle Creek; Dora, Mrs. John Glau of Ida Grove and Emma Riessen of Ida Grove; three brothers: Ed Riessen of Schleswig, Barney Riessen of Denver, Colorado, and John Riessen of Sioux City; five grandchildren; LaJune, Mrs. Roger Friedrichsen, Norman, Jordine, Eugene and Virgene.

He reached the age of 70 years, 9 months and 4 days. He was preceded in death by two children: Leodine, who died at the age of 11 and Frank, who died in infancy; two brothers: Charley and Albert, and his wife, Mathilda, who died on March 7th of this year.

Pallbearers were: C. J. Clausen, Matt Wilken, Dan Langbehn, H. L. Larson, Hugo Klotz and John F. Schmidt. Interment was made in Morgan Township Cemetery.
