MRS. HERMAN KORNER DIES IN HER HOME

Mrs. Herman Koerner, the well-known and respected wife of Herman Koerner, died in her home on Friday, July 21, 1916, after an illness of but seven and one-half days. Funeral was held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from Frieden's church in charge of the Rev. Mr. W. R. Wetzeler. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in this part of Crawford County and the Friedens house of worship was not large enough to accommodate the huge audience of friends of the deceased and of the bereaved family who had congregated from Schleswig, vicinity, and from surrounding towns. The pallbearers were: Will Schroeder, Hans Mahlstedt, Adolph Hansen, John Krohnke, Hugo Wiegane, and Mr. Krohnke of near town.

Louise Sophia Mueller was born on December 23, 1878, at New Trier, Illinois, in Cook county. At the age of two years she came to Iowa with her parents and settled in Crawford county in Hanover township. In 1900 she was married to Herman Koerner.

To them, eight children were born of whom with the husband, her own mother, survive her. They are Herman, William, Carl, Walter, Leo, Bernhardt, and Miss Esther.

Last spring the Koerner family moved to Schleswig to live permanently and the deceased enjoyed the best of health until she became afflicted a short time ago. Every tiling was done by kind friends, neighbors, and the best of medical skill was helpless to alleviate her suffering and she passed away surrounded by those who had loved and cherished her. She was a good woman and mother and was loved and held in the highest of regard and esteem. The bereaved family have the tender sympathies of everyone in their great loss of a loving wife and mother.
