FUNERAL OF MRS. AUGUST LUNDELL.
Services Held Thursday Afternoon At Lutheran Church, Rev. J.A. Christiansen Officiating.
DEATH OCCURRED FEB. 7TH.
Husband and Four Children Left To Mourn Her Death. Will Be Long Remembered.
Kiron, Feb. 16. -- (Special to the Review).
Mrs. August Lundell, who passed away at her home in Wheeler Township, Sac county, one mile east and three miles north, and whose death we mentioned last week, and which occurred on Sunday evening, Feb. 7, was buried on Thursday afternoon.
A brief service was held at the home where the remains were followed to the Lutheran Church where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. Christiansen.
A large concourse of neighbors and friends had gathered to pay their last tribute to this good woman, who has dwelt so long in this locality, gaining her respect and honor of all who knew here. A most appropriate tribute was rendered by her pastor in the obituary given by him at the funeral, and which contained the following.
Mrs. Maria Christint Lundell was born in Lekos Skaraborgo-Lau, Sweden, Oct. 8, 1848. After only a few days' sickness she passed peacefully away at her home last Sunday, Feb. 7, 1915, at the age of 66 years, 3 months, and 30 days.
She left her home in Sweden in 1870 and came to Princeton, Ill. There she was married to August Lundell March 14, 1873. The family came to Sac county from there in 1875. She has been a member of the Bethel Swedish Lutheran church here since its beginning in 1875. Eight children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Lundell, of which three have gone before, the oldest son, Albert, the youngest son, Ernest, and a daughter, Lydia.
Those left to mourn beside the husband and father are the sons, Richard, Emil and Alvin; two daughters, Mrs. C.W. Nelson and Miss Minnie, four grandchildren and other relatives and a large circle of friends. It can be said that the whole surrounding settlement with whom Mrs. Lundell has grown up since its beginning has been her friends and she has no enemies but was joyed by all who knew her.
Her life was still and peaceful. In her home she read the word of God and her place in the church was seldom empty. She leaves and empty place both in the home, in the congregation, and in the Ladies' Aid society, of which she has been a most faithful member.
Mrs. Lundell was an early christian, taking little interest in the worldly pleasures, but rather seeking communion and delight in and with her Saviour.
To the above tribute of her pastor we merely wish to add that by this good woman's death our settlement has become poorer and heave richer. Her saintly and quiet, peaceful life will long be remembered by all, and the influence of the same can be measured by none on this life. Eternity alone will reveal it. Another pioneer taken from the ranks of those who first settled in this locality, whose number is lessening fast as the years roll by. The remains of Mrs. Lundell were laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery. While her place is empty and she has gone from our midst, she is not forgotten.
