KIRON, Iowa — Agnes Gustafson, 99, of Kiron died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt, Iowa.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kiron Baptist Church, with the Revs. Wayne Fitzsinger and Robert Lundberg officiating. Burial will be in Hayes Township Cemetery, Arthur, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Mrs. Gustafson was born Sept. 23, 1899, in Ida County, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph John and Anna Margaret (Iversen) Fries. She was baptized in the Baptist faith.

She married Benjamin Houser, whom died. She then married Arvid L. Gustafson on June 18, 1938, in Arthur. He preceded her in death.

She was a former member of Arthur Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as a leader with Women's Missionary Society. She was a member of Kiron Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Benjamin and Sharon Houser of Portland, Ore., and Harold and Lois Houser of Placerville, Calif.; three daughters, Lois and her husband, Gene Asa of Port Orchard, Wash., Margaret Gustafson of Capetown, South Africa, and Carol and her husband, Val Oswald of Aurora, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia; three sisters, Virginia in infancy, Helen Eng and Margaret "Peg" Oxendale; and three brothers, John, Bill and Adolph Fries.
