Irvin Alan Harm Jr. was born December 19, 1951, the son of Irvin and Marlan Kastner Harm. He died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa at the age of fifty-five.

Irvin was born in Denison, Iowa and baptized in Christ, March 14, 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and later confirmed on April 3, 1966. He received his education in the Schleswig schools, graduating with the class of 1970. He was a talented football player, having played for the Schleswig Hawks during high school. He also enjoyed riding and breaking horses as a youth. After graduation, he began working at Farmers Lumber and Grain in Schleswig, in addition to driving truck and farming with his father. For many years he had a route delivering the Omaha World Herald in Northwest Iowa.

In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting with friends at Ampride, listening to the radio, and volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. At the time of his death, he resided at his home in rural Denison.

He was preceded in death by his father; his daughter, Lee Ann McKibben; his grandson, Maxwell McKibben; two brothers, Darwin Harm and Rick Harm; two sisters, Carlan Harm and Cheryloleen Harm, in infancy. He is survived by his son, Jason and his wife, Tammy of Schleswig; his son-in-law, Matt McKibben of Mapleton; one grandson, Tyler Harm of Schleswig; two granddaughters, Mollie and JoHannah McKibben of Mapleton; his mother, Marlan Harm of Denison; two sisters, Coleen Bruhn and her husband, Dennis of Schleswig; and Rhonda Wessel and her husband, Dale of Denison; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the services and grave side rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for the congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace," and "I Know that My Redeemer lives." Those serving as pallbearers were Harlan Schmadeke, Charles Harm, Lyle Meseck, Jeremy McMinemee, Andrew Volkmann, Justin Wessel, and Roger Harm. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
