Madonna Anna Bertha Segebart was born on the family farm in East Boyer Township near Vail, Iowa on January 13, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Anna Jochimsen Segebart. She died peacefully on October 15, 2007 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of 84. She grew up on the farm receiving her education in the local country school and graduating from Manilla High School in 1941 with a diploma certifying her to teach in the rural schools. For about ten years she then taught in several of the country schools near her home. When in 1950 her mother, Anna became blind, Madonna then ran her parents household on the farm. In 1964 her parents retired and she moved with them to Denison.

Madonna was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, Manilla and was confirmed there as a teenager. When she moved to Denison she joined Zion Lutheran Church and later Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. She was an active church member serving in the Priscilla Guild at Trinity, Ladies Aid at Zion, and the Evening Guild at Our Savior where she frequently served on committees and as an officer. She knew her Lord Jesus well and trusted in His grace alone for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. She was a Christian woman.

Madonna was also a long time member of the S.N.A.P Club, a neighborhood women's club in East Boyer Township, where she enjoyed the monthly meetings in the homes and occasional trips. A favorite hobby was women's league bowling at both Manilla and Denison. She enjoyed doing yarn crafts and made many projects. Her family was of great importance to her. She was a second mom to her nieces and nephews and a third grandma to her great nieces and nephews. Her love was daily evidenced in her generous heart. She resided at Eventide Senior Housing for 21 years, until moving to Eventide Lutheran Home in 2007.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Alex Segebart and his wife Frances, one brother-in-law Allen Miller and one nephew Terry Carl Segebart.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her brother Carl and his wife Berniece Segebart and by her sister Betty Miller. She is also survived by 8 nephews who are her pallbearers; and 5 nieces Alana Curnyn; Amy Carlson; Debra Osborn; Doreen Buls; and Angela Miller, along with their families and many other relatives and friends. May she rest in peace in her Savior. All glory to Him alone!
