Joydine Ann Schultz was born August 15, 1934, the daughter of Robert and Marie Linke Baeth. She died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at her home in Schleswig, Iowa at the age of seventy-three.

Joydine was born on a farm in Ida County, Ida Grove, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ, September 9, 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Ida Grove and later confirmed on March 21, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. She received her education in the Schleswig Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1952. On January 4, 1953, Joydine was united in marriage to Lorenz Schultz at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Joydine made her home in San Diego, California for a short time, while Lorenz served in the United States Navy. The couple later made their home on a farm near Schleswig and were blessed with the birth of four children. They retired from farming and moved to Schleswig in 1987.

She was a very devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, their Choir and Ladies Aid. She taught Sunday School, Bible School and confirmation classes for many years and helped with Orphan Grain Train. Joydine was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, served on the Crawford County Hospital Auxiliary Board and numerous other volunteer organizations. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and family gatherings. In her spare time, Joydine enjoyed playing Bridge and Euchre, sewing, traveling throughout the country on bank trips and was an avid reader, especially the daily newspaper.

Joydine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Baeth. Survivors include her husband, Lorenz of Schleswig; two daughters, Rhonda Huebner and her husband, Walter of Denison; Rebecca Unzicker and her husband, Travis of Omaha, Nebraska; two sons, Randall Schultz of San Francisco, California; and Royce Schultz and his wife, Jean of Mason City; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandsons; one sister, LaJune Howle and her husband, Willis of Livingston, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Waverline Baeth of Vallejo, California; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Merle Mahnken officiated the services and grave side rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Organist Marlene Hight provided accompaniment for the musical selections "Onward, Christian Soldiers," "The Lamb," "On Eagle's Wings," and "Lift High, the Cross." Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Weston Schultz, Meagan Schultz, Landon Schultz, Madison Unzicker, Rylie Unzicker, Noah Unzicker, and Rashelle Garrett. Those serving as pallbearers were Steve Christiansen, Derick Bruhn, Brad Schultz, James Garrett, Don Wunschel, and Mike Koepke. The family invited everyone in attendance to the Schleswig Community Building to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig was in charge of the arrangements.
