Dorothy Grace Guyett, daughter of Lloyd and Lois (Johns) Guyett, was born May 1st, 1935. At the age of three, her mother passed away and Dorothy was raised by her step- mother, Ferne Taylor Travis Guyett. Dorothy graduated from Woodbine High School in 1953 and from Morningside College in 1955 with a degree in elementary education. She taught Kindergarten at Manilla, Iowa for three years. Dorothy was married to Robert Lohrmann of Manilla on June 28th, 1958. Dorothy retired from teaching to raise their family. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jean, Sara and Jim. The family resided on the family farm west of Manilla. Dorothy was active in raising her children, assisting with 4-H projects and church activities, etc. Dorothy loved to landscape and decorate. Dorothy and Bob were avid ballroom dancers. In 1990, Dorothy became an entrepreneur and started Grandma D's restaurant in Manilla, an elegant Tea House restaurant. In 2000, Dorothy and Bob moved from the farm into Manilla. Dorothy retired from the restaurant business to spend time with her family and friends. Dorothy was an avid sports fan and attended sporting events of grandchildren and friends. Dorothy loved to garden and beautify the world around her. Along with her flower garden at her house, Dorothy adopted the entry area of Manilla and devoted endless hours planting flowers and landscaping the land into a beautiful flower garden. Dorothy was very active in her community. Dorothy was an active member of the Manilla Area Historical Society doing the gardening for the Klondike Hotel.

Dorothy passed away on July 19, 2007, at Creighton University Hospital, Omaha, NE. Dorothy lived everyday to the fullest and passed on a smile to everyone she met. Dorothy's last days were spent having fun with family and friends and putting the finishing touches on the gardens that she loved. With her passing, Dorothy is now planting flowers in a much bigger garden. Dorothy's legacy lives on as her organs were donated so others could continue her smile.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Robert of Manilla, IA and two daughters: Jean, her husband John Bohnker and daughters, Joni, Jill, Amy and Amber of Underwood, IA and Sara, her husband Dean Isaacson and sons, Grand and Cole of Madrid, IA. Dorothy is also survived by one brother, Larry (Barb) Guyett of Woodbine, IA and a step-brother, Bill (Betty) Travis of Cedar Rapids, IA; three sister-in-laws; Shirley Guyett of Harlan, IA; Diane Guyett of Bellevue, NE and Francis Nielsen of Cedar Falls, IA. Dorothy is preceded in death by her son, Jim (1989), her parents, her stepmother, nine brothers and a sister.

Special services were held Sunday, July 22, 2007 Eastern Star Memorial Service 6:00 p.m. Gladys Schmidt, leader; Prayer service and Dotty's Story Time 7:00 p.m.; Steve Daiker, leader. Ohde Funeral Home, Manilla, IA.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Manilla, Manilla, IA. Rev. Marvin Arnpriester officiating, Broadway Methodiat Church, Council Bluffs, IA. Music "Amazing Grace", "Borning Cry", "Come To Jesus", Kathy Sievers, vocalist; "Family Of God", "In The Garden", Max Poe, vocalist; Sarah Stracke, accompanist.

Casket Bearers - Dotty's grandchildren. Joni Bohnker, Jill Bohnker, Amy Bohnker, Amber Bohnker, Grant Isaacson, Cole Isaacson. Interment Nishnabotna Cemetery, Manilla, IA.
