Edna Louise Doidge was born on a farm near Denison, Iowa, February 5, 1911, the daughter of William and Sophie Plough Doidge. Her early years were spent on the farm where she attended the rural schools. In 1924, the family moved into Denison where she finished her education.

Edna spent her entire life in Denison where she was employed at the Dowd Mill Company and for many area restaurants. For many years she did housekeeping on the farm for her brothers, Walter and Roy. She then was employed in housekeeping at the Park Motel from which she retired in 1973. In 1987 she moved to Eventide Senior Housing where she resided until entering Eventide Lutheran Home.

In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison. Edna died Wednesday afternoon, May 16, 2007, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 96 years, 3 months and 11 days.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents and her seven siblings, Francis, Roy, Walter, Edward and Leon Doidge, Marie Davis and Irene Doidge. Those remaining to cherish her memory include nephews, Bill Davis of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Herman Doidge of Mapleton, Iowa, Lee Doidge of West Des Moines, Iowa and Jerome Doidge of Laguna Beach, California, one niece, Virginia Bates of Riverside, California, great niece, Rita Jennings of Denison, Iowa, great nephew, Jerry Radcliffe of Denison, Iowa, great great nieces and nephews, great, great, great neices and nephews,, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Music for the service included two organ solos, "In the Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset" with Nancy Miles serving as organist. Pallbearers included Jerry Radcliffe, Bill Davis, Herman Doidge, Lee Doidge, Jerome Doidge and Rita Jennings. Interment was at Oakland Cemetery in Denison, The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be directed to www.pfannebecker.com.
