Wilfred Henry Ohlmeier was born December 26, 1932, at Ute, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mahela Amanda (Kuester) Ohlmeier.

He passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2007, in Aransas Pass, Texas, at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 5 days.

He first attended country school. He later completed the 7th and 8th grades at the Lutheran School at Ute and went on to graduate from Ute High School in 1951. In August of 1952, Wilfred enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country for 28 years. He was honorably discharged in 1980 at Austin, Texas. He then worked for 7-11 for 18 years, retiring in 1998.

On October 10, 1998, Wilfred married Marjorie Blades Dorale at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute.

He was an Associate Member of Faith Lutheran in Aransas Pass, Texas and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute where he was baptized February 5, 1933 and confirmed March 30, 1947. He was a member of the American Legion Aaby Post #442 and the V.F.W. Post #5605, both of Ute, and the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 201 of Austin, Texas, where he served as secretary for 16 years.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; one son, Paul Ohlmeier of Nevada; four step sons, David Klump of Texas, Rick Dorale of Anthon, Iowa, Ralph Dorale of Charter Oak, Iowa and Ray Dorale of Ute, Iowa; four step daughters, Teresa Carpenter, Ann Klump, and Michele Kuxhausen all of Texas and Ruth Moore of New Sharon, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Wayne and Joan Ohlmeier of Ute, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Monday, February 5, at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Funeral services were Tuesday, February 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Ed Brandt officiating. Creta Teut was the organist. The congregation sang "Lift High the Cross", "The Lord Is My Shepherd", and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Dale Buck, Deryl Hennings, Todd Teut, Don Seufert, Mike Ohlmeier and Dale Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Mike and Norma Berens, Richard and Arlene Wessel, Hank and Norma Buschman, Warren Thies, Todd and LeAnn Olhmeier, Larry and Donna Hintz, Duane and Joyce Mordhorst, Charlie Randall II, and F.R.A. members.

Military honors and interment by American Legion Aaby Post #442 and V.F.W. Post #5605, both of Ute, were at St. Clair Cemetery in Ute, under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Service.
