Edna Anna Marie Else was born May 9, 1913, the daughter of Wilhelm and Wilhelmina Hamaan Nehls. She died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa at the age of ninety-three.

Edna was born on a farm in Nishnabotna Township near Manilla, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ at St. Peter Evangelical Church in Washington Township, Crawford County and later confirmed on April 1, 1928 at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. Edna was united in marriage to Ben Huebner on December 6, 1933 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple made their home on a farm near Manilla and were blessed with the birth of two children, Dale and Sally. They farmed for fourteen years and then moved to Denison, where Ben started a trucking company in 1952 until the time of his death in 1962, which Edna continued to operate until 1965.

On November 28, 1965 Edna was married to George Else at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. They made their home west of Schleswig, until 1987 when they moved to Mesa, Arizona. In 1990, they returned to Iowa and settled in Carroll.

Edna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She was also a member of the Schleswig Country Club and former member of American Trucking Association. Edna enjoyed traveling, socializing in cards, bowling, dancing and especially loved family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben and her husband, George, one son, Morelle Else in 2000, two daughters-in-law, Darla Huebner in 1967, Mary Huebner in 2006 and one brother, Edwin Nehls. Survivors include one son, Dale Huebner of Carroll; two daughters, Sally Sullivan and her husband, Tom of Carroll; Marlys Grell and her husband, Lyle of Fort Collins, Colorado; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nehls of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Esther Guy and Rita Huebner, both of Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. David Anthony officiated the services and grave side rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Organist Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist Sue Rosener as she sang, "The Lord's Prayer," and "How Great Thou Art," and for the congregational hymn, "I'm But A Stranger Here." Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Tammy Johnson, Lashelle Evans, Renee Meyer, and Cary Grell. Honorary Pallbearers in Absentia were Denise Salazar, and Wendy Grell. Those serving as Pallbearers were Beth Starman, Tom Sullivan, Lisa Quandt, Becky Sulzmann, Darsi Huebner and Brenda Bach. A prayer service was held Friday at 7:00 p.m., by Rev. Brian Licht at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. The family invited everyone in attendance at the funeral to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Dorcas Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
