On a brisk winter day, Dec. 26, 2006, Nona Jane (Noni to many) passed away peacefully and returned home in joyous reunion with her family. She was born July 26, 1919 in Watertown, South Dakota to the Reverend Knute B. Vaaler and Eda Halvorson Vaaler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Albert Ordal, their beautiful daughter Jane, and her sister Silvia. She graduated from Colton High School, in Colton South Dakota, and Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She married Albert (Al) on June 29, 1957 and together they made their home in Denison Iowa.

She was a devoted Christian with a genuine love for her Lord and Savior as evidenced by her character, kindness, consideration for mankind and the devotion she had as a wife and helpmate for her husband and daughter. In her leisure time, Noni enjoyed watching sporting events, especially Husker Football and St. Louis Cardinal's Baseball. She was a gracious lady with a sincere passion for music. She enjoyed socializing with her family and friends and especially loved talking about scripture and Bible history.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and extended family members that were important to her life in Denison. We would like to extend a special thanks to her many friends who gave of themselves in love and friendship in sharing their lives with her. Also, a sincere thank you to the caring staff at the Reed House and the care givers at the Eventide Lutheran Home for the kindness and care extended these last few months.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. David Loeschen officiated the services and grave side rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Organist Mary Ellen Hafner provided the organ accompaniment for the congregational hymns, "Rejoice, O Pilgrim Throng," "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," "I'm But a Stranger Here." Those serving as pallbearers were: John C. Campbell, Gaylord Moeller, Jim Petersen, Daryl Stansbury, Fred Clements, and Russ McVay. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Women's Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
