Ruth Ella Helen Teut, 91, passed away at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa on Thursday, December 14, 2006.

Visitation was held on Sunday, December 17, 2006, after 3:00 p.m. with the prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Armstrong Chapel in Ute. Arrangements were under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton and Ute.

Ruth Ella Helen Teut was born on October 29, 1915, to William and Elsie (Bartles) Engelke. She was baptized on November 28, 1915, and confirmed on April 7, 1929 at St. Paul's in Ute, Iowa.

She received her education in country school and St. Paul's Parochial School. She was united in marriage on December 20, 1933, to Ralph A.O. Teut at St. Paul's in Ute. The couple engaged in farming until 1972 when they retired and moved into town.

Ruth was a lifelong member of St. Paul's LWML, LCW, American Legion Auxiliary, Golden Circle, and Friendship Club.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include two sons, Eldon Teut and his wife, Creta of Ute, Iowa, and Oran Teut and his wife, Lorie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Sharon Pope and her husband, Jack of Ute, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister and her husband, Fern and Robert Jacobson of Mapleton, Iowa; 4 sisters-in-law, Helma Engelke and Arlene Teut both of Mapleton, Iowa, Christine Teut of Schleswig, Iowa, and Irene Teut of Denison, Iowa; 2 brothers-in-law, Everett Teut and his wife, Betty of Omaha, Nebraska, and Gilbert Nihsen of Ricketts, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents; two sisters and a brother.

Memorials may be sent to LWML and Quilting, LCW, Lutheran Family Service (Iowa), and Camp Okoboji.

Funeral Services were held Monday, December 18, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa. Pastor Ed Brandt officiated the service. Lynette Thies served as organist for family members singing, The Lord My Shepherd Is: and congregational hymns, Lift High the Cross, Asleep in Jesus Blessed Sleep, and Just As I Am Without One Plea. Pallbearers were Ruths grandchildren: Carla Nelson, Paul Teut, Mark Teut, Todd Teut, Jean Berg, Tatum Buse, Nathan Teut, Lori Schroeder, Sheryl Bruhn, Brian Carter, Randy Carter and Noel Dubsky. Honorary Pallbearers were Ruth's great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. Interment was held at the St. Clair Cemetery, in Ute, Iowa.
