Two people died and three others were injured in two separate vehicle collisions in southwest Iowa on Thursday.

Marlowe Schultz, 63, of Schleswig was killed when the pickup he was driving pulled into the path of an oncoming truck, driven Bruce Lundt, 57, of Correctionville. Shultz's vehicle was then struck in the driver's side door.

Shultz had been headed eastbound on Highway 59 in Crawford County, when according to reports from the Iowa State Patrol, he failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 59 and Avenue E in Schleswig.

Lundt was transported to Ida Grove Hospital by Crawford County Rescue. No further information on his condition was available this morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol Web site, neither Lundt nor Schultz was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the collision that occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. Thursday.
