Larry Steven Mesenbrink died November 27, 2006 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 57.

He was born the eighth of ten children to Dorothy (Kinney) and Vern Mesenbrink on March 2, 1949, in Denison. Larry was baptized as an infant at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township in Charter Oak, Iowa, on September 28, 1975, and was united in marriage with Luann Krueger on March 21, 1976, at the same church.

Larry attended St. Rose of Lima school as a child and graduated from Denison High School in 1968. During high school he participated in football. A life-long resident of Denison, Larry was involved with both Immanuel and Zion Lutheran churches. Throughout his life Larry worked for the Denison Bulletin, IBP, and in 1992 he took ownership of Jim's DX Service making it Mesenbrink Service. He loved woodworking, traveling, restoring cars and houses, and organizing and working on the Christmas programs at Immanuel. Larry loved and valued the time he had with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and two sisters: Sandra Joan Niezgoda and Mary Patricia Mesenbrink.

Left here to mourn Larry are his wife Luann of Denison; his three children; Carissa and her husband Johnny Lewellen of Atlantic, Iowa; Carlin Mesenbrink of Denison; Cari Mesenbrink of Storm Lake, Iowa; and seven siblings: James Mesenbrink and his wife Marge of Bellevue, Nebraska; William Mesenbrink and his wife Judith of Omaha, Nebraska; Louis (Buzz) Messenbrink and his wife Judith of Schleswig, Iowa; Daniel Mesenbrink of Dallas, Texas; David Messenbrink and his wife Pat of Omaha; Celeste and her husband Bruce Stoltze of Des Moines, Iowa; and Colleen Mesenbrink of Des Moines; four brothers-in-law: Walter Niezgoda of Brookfield, Illinois; Arthur Krueger and his wife Darla of Battle Creek, Iowa; Kenneth Krueger and his wife Susan of Danbury, Iowa; Robert Krueger and his wife Nancy of Battle Creek, Iowa; his mother-in-law Louise Krueger of Charter Oak; two aunts: Marg Comstock of Denison; and Vera Mesenbrink of Manilla, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the services and grave side rites held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for the congregational hymns, "Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound," "How Great Thou Art," and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus." Those serving as pallbearers were: Rodney Messenbrink, Scott Mesenbring, Jeff Mesenbrink, Brian Krueger, Bill Krueger, Justin Messenbrink, Rick Mesenbring, Bruce Stoltze Jr., Kyle Krueger, Jeff Krueger, and Nick Niezgoda. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
