The oldest of five children, Barbara Ann Moeller was born September 13, 1929, at Moorhead, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Merle Leo and Louise Ann Sanders Servoss. The family resided at Pisgah, Iowa, for two years before moving to Denison, Iowa, where Barbara received her elementary education at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. From 1944, until returning to Denison in 1947, the family resided at St. Petersburg, Florida, where Barbara's father served as a dentist in the service. After returning to Denison, Barbara was graduated from high school with the class of 1947. Following high school she worked for her father in his dental office.

On August 19, 1950, Barbara was united in marriage with Neal G. Moeller at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Their union was blessed with seven children, Gregory, Dale, Clair, Michael, Annette, Mary and David. With the exception of one year, 1954-55, while Neal served in the military at San Marcos, Texas, they made their home in Denison. Barbara's married life was spent as a full time homemaker and mother. She was an active participant in her children's lives, serving as a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Den Mother and a baseball mother, organizing the concession stand for many years. Her entire life revolved around her family and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and, had a great interest in genealogy, studying, researching, and recording, her family's history to preserve for generations to come.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison and the St. Rose Ladies Guild, having served as their president in years past. Other memberships she enjoyed include Crawford County Historic Preservation and Crawford County Genealogical Society.

In 2000, Neal and Barbara had the privilege of celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Barbara died Thursday afternoon, October 19, 2006, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 77 years, 1 month and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Merle and Louise Servoss.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of over 56 years, Neal G. Moeller of Denison, Iowa; seven children and their spouses, Gregory A. And Barbara J. Moeller of Des Moines, Iowa; Dale T. And Helen M. Moeller of Buffalo, New York; Clair J. And Donna M. Moeller of Hudson, Wisconsin; Michael G. And Jane L. Moeller of Lake City, Iowa; Annette M. And Kelly Salsbery of Nacogdoches, Texas; Mary S. And Daniel B. Eiten of Denison, Iowa; and David N. And Darcy L. Moeller of Indianola, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 honorary granddaughters, Nicky Ballach and Veronika Berghold; three sisters and one brother, Joyce Mulligan of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Kathleen Janning of Omaha, Nebraska; Michael L. Servoss of Denison, Iowa and Cecelia and husband, Edward Arnold of Urbandale, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 23, 2006, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Paul J. Kelly as Celebrant with The Rev. Gene Sitzman as Con-Celebrant. Others participating in the mass included Christian Symbol Placers, Neal G. Moeller, Gregory, Dale, Clair, Michael and David Moeller, Annette Salsbery and Mary Eiten; Servers, Casy Curnyn and Randy Patino; Lector, Gregory Moeller; Gift Bearers, Jillian Moeller and Kathryn Moeller; and Eucharistic Ministers, Jane Moeller and Barbara Jean Moeller. Music for the mass included a flute recording of "Amazing Grace", vocal solo, "The Our Father" with Cheryl Brodersen as soloist, and St. Rose of Lima Adult Choir singing, "How Great Thou Art", "You Are Mine" "Psalm 42, As The Deer Longs" and "O Loving God" with Jean Cornelius serving as accompanist. Pallbearers included Barbara's grandsons, Neal T. Moeller, Carl J. Moeller, Thomas M. Moeller, Paul J. Moeller, Carsten D. Moeller, Matthew B. Eiten and Daniel N. Moeller. Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. Following the interment the family invited everyone to return to the Parish Center and join them for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by St. Rose of Lima Ladies Guild. Visitation was held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison from 3:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2006, with a Legion of Mary Rosary, led by Cecelia Arnold and Richard and Rosemarie Penn, was held at 4:00 p.m. And a Parish Vigil Service, led by the Rev. Paul J. Kelly, was held at 6:00 p.m. A memorial has been established to St. Rose of Lima School. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
