Visitation was from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.

David was born on November 10, 1953 in Carroll, Iowa, the oldest son of Gerald and Ruth (Roth) Bengford. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt.

He grew up and received his education in Odebolt, graduating from Odebolt-Arthur High School in 1972.

After high school he worked at Dubuque Packing Company in Denison, Iowa for several years and then went to work for Western Engineering out of Harlan, Iowa, where he did over the road construction work for more than 20 years. In 2005 he went to work for Bedrock Gravel of Denison, Iowa.

David was married to Joann Justice from 1983 to 1992. This union was blessed with two children: Dillon Daniel Bengford and Jason David Bengford.

David, known by most people as "Banger", enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, playing foosball, taking pictures, riding motorcycles, golfing, raising the many dogs he has had throughout his life, and especially loved spending time outdoors to enjoy nature and its surroundings.

He loved to laugh and people loved to hear him laugh. His laughter was contagious. He lived for the day.

Survivors include his two children, Dillon of Defiance, Iowa, and Jason of Kiron, Iowa; one brother Steven Bengford and wife Renee of Odebolt and their daughter Kady; two sisters, Janet Leonard and husband Bob of Odebolt and their two sons, Daniel and Bryan; and Carolyn Hoelscher and husband Tom of Odebolt and their two sons, Dallas and Dayton; his special friend Wendy Skarin; many aunts and uncles and cousins; and an abundance of friends.

He was preceded in death by his two younger brothers, Roger Bengford and Daniel Bengford; and his parents Gerald and Ruth Bengford. "Banger" will be greatly missed by many.
