Hi Kathleen, Hope you're not confusing the 1885 census with your 1887 special census of the city of Clinton I was born & raised in Clinton co. and have never heard of it, nor has the staff at the Root Cellar, the genealogy section of the Clinton library. The 1885 for Clinton co. can be ordered from your local LDS Family History Center. Film 1021455 contains the city of Clinton and various townships. Film 1021456 contains the city of Lyons and the rest of the county townships. The census is not indexed but it might assist you on narrowing down what may have happened to the boys.
