Searching for great grandfathers biological family

My grandfather’s name is Frank Joseph Skalla born 11 Dec 1889, Clinton, Iowa. Died 15 April 1959 Wenatchee, WA. He was adopted to be a farm hand by the Kunkel family out of Dubuque. He has an older sister Mary Casterton (Skalla) born 22 Mar 1883 who was also adopted and possibly an additional unknown sibling. On my great grandfathers WWI draft card it list Lyons as his place of birth. From the reading I have done I discovered there were 3 different Skalla families in the area, one is listed as residing in 4th ward, Lyons. His cousin is John J Skalla from Delmar, Iowa. I would like to be able to find out which Skalla family my grandfather came from so I know my own family history.
