Benjamin F. Shryer, Clinton, IA, 7/7/1862

SHRYER

My gt-gt-granduncle Benjamin F. Shryer (b. 1817-1818) enlisted in Company H, 18th Iowa Infantry on 7/7/1862, giving his residence as Clinton, Iowa. A John M. Shryer enlisted in the same unit on the same day, leading me to feel that he might be Benjamin's older brother John. The 1860 census for Clinton County lists no Shryers whatsoever. Iowa is a little far off the beaten path for most of my ancestors and I'm hoping someone may have information (or questions) concerning this branch of my family. Thanks.
