The Clinton Herald Tuesday August 5, 1958 p. 9 Mrs. C. A. (Edith Curtis) Armstrong, 75, one of the founders of a philanthropic foundation which for a number of years has been providing extensive financial assistance to numerous Clinton charitable and welfare organizations, died Monday afternoon in her home, 542 S. Bluff Blvd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bragonier-Fay chapel, with Dr. H.J. Rendall and Rev. Daniel Ogata in charge of services. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 6 o'clock tonight. While in recent years Mrs. Armstrong has devoted most of her efforts to the work of the Edith Curtis Armstrong and Florence E. Curtis Foundation, at one time she was extremely active in local civic and club affairs. She was particularly interested in Jane Lamb hospital, being a long-time member of Agatha circle and a former member of the hospital's board of lady managers. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Mardi club and the Clinton Country club. Edith Curtis was born April 16, 1883, in Clinton, the daughter of Charles Franklin Curtis, one of the founders of Curtis Companies Incorporated, and Nancy Hosford Curtis. She was educated in the local public schools and also attended the Ogantz school in Philadelphia, Pa. She married C.A. Armstrong on Feb. 18, 1911, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1953.
Surviving are one daughter, Jacqueline N., of Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. C.B. Towle of Lincoln, Neb., and a twin sister, Miss Florence E. Curtis of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, and one sister in infancy.
