The Clinton Herald Friday January 2, 1953 p. 11 Charles Allen Armstrong, 67, vice-president and director of Curtis Companies Inc., died at 7:15 a.m. tody in his home at 542 South Bluff Blvd. Although in poor health from a heart ailment for about two years, he had remained active in business affairs up to the time of his death. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Bragonier-Fay chapel, with Dr. Burce McCullough of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Internment in Springdale cemetery will be private. Mr. Armstrong was born Dec. 23, 1884, in Castleton, Vt., son of the late Henry E. and Frances Taft Armstrong. he came to Clinton in 1898, to work for his uncle who had founded the C.E. Armstrong and Sons hardware company. On April 1, 1911, he entered the employ of the Curtis company as a salesman and worked there in various capacities, becoming vice-president of Curtis Companies Inx., president of the C.F. Curtis Co., Inc., and a director in both firms. He also was vice-president and director of the City Naitonal bank and a former director of the Federal Savings and Loan Co. President of the Clinton Country club for many years,he was one of the leaders in the campaign which resulted in the construction of the present club house. He was a member and past director of the Chamber of Commerce and the Community Federation, and was an active worked for all civic affairs. He was married Feb. 18, 1911, to Edith Curtis of Clinton, who survives, with one daughter, Jacqueline N. Armstrong. Also surviving are three cousins, Roscoe W. Armstrong, Camanche; Deaconess Anna Armstrong, Upper Red Hook, N.Y., and E.J. Armstrong, Castleton, Vt. His parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
