WELTON — Alice Berner, 89, of Welton, died Tuesday at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.
Visitation will be at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Service of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Clarence Pannier will be officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
She was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Welton Township, Clinton County, to John and Margaret Dieckmann. She married Lawrence Emil Berner on Jan. 14, 1945, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, DeWitt. The couple lived in Welton most of their married life. He died in 1986.
She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis (Charles) Gilmore of Maquoketa; one sister, Esther Schwien; and nieces and nephews.
