Dorse Ray “Jay” Noe

SAVANNA, Ill. — Dorse Ray “Jay” Noe, 78, of Savanna, died Saturday at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. The body will be cremated. There will be a memorial service at a later date. The Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Oct. 28, 1927, to James Jake and Alice Irene Younger Noe. He married Dolores E. Freeman on Dec. 31, 2002, in Mount Carroll, Ill.

He worked as a chef on the barge lines in his early years. He worked with a General Motors, Wentzville, Mo., plant for 35 years before retiring in 1985.

He was a member of the Collinsville, Ill., Moose Lodge and Union Missouri Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Dawn (Loren) Michl of Savanna; one daughter, Mrs. Janet (Stephen) Rhoads of St. Louis; two stepdaughters, Geri Freeman of Grafton, Wis., and Mrs. Linda (Dick) Lockwood of Crystal Lake, Ill.; many grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Janet) Rice and Earl (Phyllis) Rice, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Nancy (Jim) Davidson of Poplar Bluff; and three nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, one brother and his first and second wives.
