Wade A. “Sonny” Taylor

CAMANCHE — Wade A. “Sonny” Taylor, 72, of Camanche, died Tuesday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Debby Manion officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bray, Steve Whalen, Norman Bolton, Elrick Daly, Richard Butler and John Quint.

He was born April 10, 1933, in Bellevue to Walter Doty and Mildred Taylor. He married Joan “Sis” Simonson on May 24, 1958, in Thief River Falls, Minn.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed with the E.I. DuPont Co. as a finishing operator for 39 years before retiring in 1992.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 28 in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Toni Taylor of Camanche and her fiance Gary Schneider of Clinton; two sisters, Shirley Riordan of Monmouth and Evelyn Tubbs of Maquoketa; and one brother; Walter Doty.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Death date: Jan. 3, 2006
