Paul E. Hanson Sr.

CLINTON — Paul E. Hanson, 74, of Clinton, died Monday at his home.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Anthony Herold officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post 28. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.

Pallbearers will be Rick Hunter, Paul Spalding, Pete Andresen, Andy Andresen, Dan David and Mike Carney.

He was born July 18, 1931, in Canby, Minn., to Russell and Leona Winkels Hanson. He married Wanda Hickman on Dec. 21, 1954, in East St. Louis, Ill.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1951 to 1959 during the Korean War stationed in Greenland and Okinawa.

He and his wife farmed throughout Clinton County for more than 35 years. He also was a seed corn representative with DeKalb Seed Co. He was employed with Farm and Fleet as the agriculture manager for the last 10 years.

He was a member of the Calamus American Legion, Clinton American Legion, charter member of the Welton Lions Club and attended the Prince of Peace Parish.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Brenda (Pat) Marr of Monroe, Wis., Mrs. Donna (Terry) Andresen of Miles, Mrs. Deb (Mike) Carney of Davenport, Mrs. Becky (Dan) David of Waverly, Mrs. Barb (Tom) Thompson of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Shirley (Rick) Hunter of Hales Corners, Wis.; three sons, Robert Hanson of Jacksonville, Fla., Tom (Molly) Hanson of Jacksonville and Rich Hanson of Clinton; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Donna) Hanson of Alpha, Ill., and Allan (Linda) Hanson of Hampton, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy (Homer) Heaton of Geneseo, Ill., Mrs. Janice (Bill) Bates of Rock Falls, Ill., Mrs. Marilyn (Gary) Seidel of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Linda (Mark) Ellis of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister and one grandchild.
