Elysbeth O. Maxheim

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Elysbeth O. Maxheim, 89, of Santa Ana, died Dec. 14 at Kindred Hospital, Santa Ana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton with the Rev. Thomas Hennen officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Penny Fullerton, Lydia Halbach and Francie Hill.

She was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Clinton to William and Blanche MacKenzie Oakes. She married John Maxheim on Sept. 1, 1941, in Clinton. He died in 1994.

She graduated from Clinton High School and later received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.

She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Agatha and Mercy Hospital auxiliaries and Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Susan (Peter) Carter of Westminster, Calif., and Leas Kamieniecki of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Saint Mary of the Woods College or a favorite charity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother.
