John William Jaeger

GALENA, Ill. — John William Jaeger, 70, of Galena, died Wednesday at his home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where a Scripture wake service will be held at 3 p.m. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

He was employed with the United States Gypsum Co. before retiring in 1991. He moved from the Chicago suburb of Kenilworth, Ill., to Galena.

He was a Rotary member, instrumental in developing a senior citizen Web site, board member of Habitat for Humanity of Jo Daviess County, president and director of the Galena Territory Association, Apple River Fort board member, Guilford Township trustee and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church Choir as well as other church and community organizations.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Anne (Bob) Foley and Mrs. Maggie (Chris) Mordi; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anne (John) Maloney; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Jo Daviess County, Box 228, Galena, IL 61036.
