Norman C. Kroemer

LOWDEN — Norman C. Kroemer, 89, of Lowden, died Thursday at the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden, with the Rev. Victor Young officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.

He was born March 15, 1916, in Lowden to Paul and Elsie Pruess Kroemer. He married Elfrieda Horstmann on Dec. 10, 1939, in Lowden.

He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Lowden High School in 1934.

He farmed until 1978, when he retired to Lowden.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an elder when the new church was built. He was a charter member of the Lowden Lions Club and also served on the Cedar County Board of Supervisors.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth (Sherril) of Clinton and Leon (Karen) of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Florene Kruckenberg; one sister-in-law, Veneta Kroemer; one brother-in-law, Henry (Betty) Horstmann; and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Lions Eye Bank or Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Death Date: Dec. 29, 2005
