Betty L. Reed

Betty L. Reed, 76, of Wyoming, Iowa, died Thursday at Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming, with the Revs. Tim Miller and Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Burial will be at Monmouth (Iowa) Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lahey Funeral Home, Wyoming.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Daniel Brunscheen, Ryan, Eric and Adam Eichhorn and Timothy and Joseph Bahnsen.

She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Wyoming to Albert and Esther Bock Buck. She married William David Reed on July 31, 1949, in Wyoming. He died in 1999.

She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1946 and attended AIC in Davenport.

She was a secretary at Midland High School for 25 years.

She was a member of Monmouth United Methodist Church, Wyoming Historical Society and the Wyoming Betterment Committee. She was a member and a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Peerless Chapter 435 of Oxford Junction. She also was a 4-H leader in Monmouth and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue (Lorenz) Brodersen of Wyoming, Joy (Dennis) Eichhorn of Maquoketa and Jan (Laverne) Bahnsen of Center Point; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna (Alan) Rutenbeck of Baldwin; four sisters-in-law, Mary (Frank) Roberts of Iowa City, Helen P. Reed and Helen M. Reed, both of Cedar Rapids, and Wilma Reed of New Berlin, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Wyoming Museum.
