Lyle H. Goettsch

DEWITT — Lyle H. Goettsch, 77, of DeWitt, died Wednesday at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Visitation will be at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Service of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. The Rev. Dennis Arndt will be officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be no luncheon following the service.

Pallbearers will be Lonny Goettsch, Mark Witte, Rocky Everly, David Bousselot, Aaron LaPoint and Doug Goettsch.

He was born Nov. 22, 1928, in rural Calamus to Walter and Velma Mueller Goettsch. He married Mary Kathleen “Kay” Green on Aug. 26, 1949. She died in 1987. He then married Dorothy Determan Dolan on Dec. 30, 1988.

He graduated from Calamus High School in 1946.

He and his wife farmed and raised cattle in rural Calamus. He also owned the Phillips 66 Station, Calamus, for 28 years. He drove a bus for 49 years for Calamus schools.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. He also was in a card club.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Mrs. Marsha (Mark) Witte of DeWitt, Mrs. Debra (Rocky) Everly of Sun Prairie, Wis., Mrs. Terri (David) Bousselot of Calamus; one son, Lonny (Leisha) Goettsch of Calamus; one daughter-in-law, Lana Goettsch of Calamus; 11 grandchildren; five stepdaughters, Mary Thiel, Jane Moore, Mrs. Sue (Mark) Mahieu, Lori Frymark, Mrs. Teresa (Ed) Schneckloth; and one stepdaughter-in-law, Gayle Dolan.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established.
