FULTON, Ill. — Eileen G. Bly, 81, of Fulton, died Tuesday at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fulton, with the Rev. James R. Keenan, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with a 7:30 p.m Scripture service. Interment will be in the Calvary Hill Cemetery, Fulton.

Pallbearers will be Shawn and Aaron Bly, Jimmy Strom, Chris and Nick Johnson, Dillon, Riley and Joe Bly; and all of her grandchildren. The honor escort for the casket is Ben Johnson.

She was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Preston to Matthew E. and Elizabeth S. Dever Cain. She married Donald F. Bly on Feb. 26, 1949, in Preston. He died in 2001.

She graduated from Mount St. Clare High School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Clinton.

She was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

She was employed with Mercy Medical Center for 38 years as an obstetrics nurse; she delivered more than 4,000 babies. In 2002, she was selected for induction into the Mount St. Clare Hall of Fame.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the church’s Altar and Rosary Society and also served as an Eucharistic minister. She established a weekly prayer group in 1972, which is still active. She also was an active volunteer in the Christian Family Movement for many years and co-founded, along with her sister, the Share Food Program in Clinton.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Colleen (Pat) Van Kampen of Clinton, Mrs. Maurita (Robert) Johnson of Clinton, Mrs. Marguerite (Jim) Strom of St. Paul, Minn., and Monica Bly (Michelle Compton) of Bullard, Texas; four sons, Dan (Vicki) Bly of Fulton, Frank (Maureen) Bly of Garland, Texas, Pat (Debbie) Bly of Clinton and Dr. Timothy (Kim) Bly of Carlock, Ill.; 33 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Maureen Witt of Clinton, Mrs. Cecelia Sullivan of Clinton, Mrs. Angela (Bill) McMahon of Cincinnati, Mrs. Kathryn Caron of Clinton and Mrs. Roberta (Milton) Oberman of Andrew; and two brothers, Francis (Betty) Cain of Dixon, Ill., and Robert (Joan) Cain of Goose Lake.

Memorials may be made to Mass offerings and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
