Marjorie A. Burda

Marjorie A. Burda, 96, of Oxford Junction, died Thursday at Maquoketa Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oxford Junction United Methodist Church with Pastor Sharon Treloar officiating. Burial will be at Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home, Oxford Junction.

She was born May 2, 1909, in rural Clinton County to John and Dora H. Bielenberg Schroeder. She married Fred L. Burda on June 11, 1930, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died in 1992.

She attended rural country school in Clinton County. She was a 1926 graduate of Lost Nation High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls in 1926.

She taught school at Mt. Ida School in Clinton County in 1928-1929. She farmed with her husband and raised geese, ducks and chickens.

She was a member of Oxford Junction United Methodist Church, and active with Farm Bureau and the local 4-H Club.

Survivors include one son, Ferdinand (Pat) Burda of Oxford Junction; two daughters, Kathleen (James Vacek) Leeper of Oxford Junction and Phyllis (William) Steinbeck of Keystone; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, two sisters and three sisters-in-law.
