LORRAINE M. MADSEN

DEWITT — Lorraine Madsen, 82, of DeWitt, died Monday at the Hiawatha Care Center.

Visitation will be at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Service of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. The Revs. Terry Ellis and Garland Gotoski will be officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Koch, Scott Madsen, Leland Haring, Jack Smith, Richard Reser and Ted Heaton.

She was born Aug. 17, 1923, near Preston to Emil and Hanna Thielen Behrens. She married Clyde Madsen on Sept. 2, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton.

She graduated from Welton High School and attended Scoville Business College.

She worked as a bookkeeper with the Burpee Seed Co., Clinton. She and her husband farmed in rural Charlotte for 41 years until retiring in 1982. They moved to DeWitt in 1989.

She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte, where she held various offices in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. While in DeWitt, she was a member Grace Lutheran Church and its Elizabeth Circle.

She provided meals for the Human Care Committee at Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; children, Mrs. Gail (Philip) Koch of Cedar Rapids and Gary (Jane) Madsen of Charlotte; six grandchildren; one sister, Norma Manning of DeWitt; one sister-in-law, Beulah Haring of Burlington; and one uncle, Anthony Thielen of Clinton.
