Kenneth J. Tichler

MORRISON, Ill. - Kenneth J. Tichler, 89, of Morrison, died Wednesday at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, preceded by a 10:45 a.m. family prayer service at the church. The Rev. Jon W. Nienhuis, pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison.

He was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Morrison to Clarence and Helen Huizenga Tichler. He married Eldora Douma on Feb. 14, 1941, in Morrison.

He was educated at Delhi School in rural Whiteside County, Ill.

He farmed for 31 years in rural Morrison. He worked as a custodian at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and also was a substitute rural mail carrier, then a full-time mail carrier before retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church where he served as an elder and deacon and taught Sunday school and catechism. He led worship services at the county jail for inmates and local nursing homes. He also was a member of the Morrison Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary E. (Bill) Meyer of Alto, Mich., and Mrs. Charlotte (Bill) Cox of Vail, Ariz.; one son, Richard (Kathleen) Tichler of Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials will be established by the family.
