Joy Davis 03/11/1999 WHEATLAND, Iowa -- Memorial services for Joy Glynden Davis, of Wheatland, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wheatland. The body was cremated. Inurnment will be in Alpha (Ill.) Cemetery. Joy Lester was born July 22, 1925, in her grandparent's farm near Alpha, to Paul E. and Monica Maria (Martin) Lester. She attended several schools in the Alpha area and graduated in 1943 from Hudson (Iowa) High School. She married Rolland Davis of Lynxville, Wis., on May 30, 1948, in Postville, Iowa. They lived in Wheatland most of their married life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clinton (Iowa) Hospice Program. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Janelle Davis, DeWitt; sons, Jay Thede and his wife Sandy, Mason City, Mark Davis and his fianceé Linda Biddle, both of Wheatland, and Greg Davis and his wife Diane, Wheatland; grandchildren, Darin Ross Davis, Wheatland, Sara Eileen Davis, Wheatland, and Katie Lynn Davis, Wheatland; and a step-grandson, Kevin Kaufman, Pekin, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Gwen Phillips, Lancaster, Wis.; a brother, Martin Lester, of Arizona; a step-grandson, Kirk Kaufman, of Illinois; an infant daughter, Gillian Maria Thede; and a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Davis, Wheatland.
