Vernon Harmsen 02/20/1999 CLINTON, Iowa -- Vernon J. Harmsen, formerly of R.R. 3, Clinton, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Andover. The body will be cremated. Inurnment will be in Teeds Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Mr. Harmsen had farmed in Clinton County near Andover. He was born Aug. 11, 1912, in Clinton County. He married Elsie Koch in 1943 in Flint, Mich. She died in 1983. He married Margaret Bloxom in 1984 in Arizona. Memorials may be made to the church or healthcare facility. Survivors include daughters, Barbara Herzog, Kankakee. Ill., Dell Davis, Athens, Ga., and Jean Farrell, Rice Lake, Wis.; sons, Wayne V. and Stanley J, both of rural Clinton; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd, DeWitt.
