Sister Justina Hickey, OSF 01/08/1999 CLINTON, Iowa -- Sister Justina Hickey, OSF, of the Alverno Health Care Facility, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at the care facility. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Canticle Chapel, 841 13th Ave. N., Clinton. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Canticle, third floor, with a Scripture service at 4 p.m. and a rosary at 7 p.m. Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Sister Justina held an Iowa Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate. She taught children in middle and upper elementary grades for 55 years in Perry, Fonda, Akron, Denison, Storm Lake, Vail, Placid and Varina, Iowa. She also taught in Chicago, Carrollton, Mo., and Maysville, Ky. After retiring from full-time classroom teaching, she assisted in tutoring at Mount St. Clare and worked in the clothing ministry to the poor. She was born Aug. 23, 1901, in St. Kyran's, Newfoundland, Canada. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1920 and took her final vows in 1926. Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.
